Layout For Derwent If Real Boat
Growing up at the seaside I had a close connection with boats and ships from an early age, but it was not until my parents took my sister and I on a holiday to St Olaves on the Norfolk
Broads did I actually skipper a boat on my own for the first time, we stayed at a place called The Moorings, a collection of Fisherman's Lodges and a house boat, all situated on a small
dike off the River Waveney.
We stayed on the Houseboat, very exciting and very cosy, the houseboat also came with a small rowing boat and I had lots of fun fishing and rowing up and down the dyke. But the best was
yet to come my mother and father decided to hire a motorboat for a few days too and I became the skipper.
Now I am not sure if they named the boat after the Triang toy boat or the toy was modelled on this boat but its name was the Derwent, both identical in shape and scale to size, so to say.
After going out a few times with my parents I eventually was allowed out on my own, a little frightening but very exciting and excitement that still is with me today when messing about on
the water.
Above I have re-mastered the Triang toy boat The Derwent to show what an inside would look like if a real boat.

Model Pond Yachts and Boats
Various model boats were made by Triang companies, early yachts were made of steel under the name of Triang. Tri-ang also sold a range of wooden hulled yachts and clockwork motor launches.
They also produced early battery powered electric motor launches. Penguin was a name that they manufactured plastic yachts and clockwork boats and some battery powered electric boats. Over
the years these toys/models were manufactured under the name Rovex, Scalex and Minimodels.
Clockwork Triang Motor Lifeboat
Saving the best to last, yes it's The Clockwork Triang Motor Lifeboat this is my most favourite of all the Triang boats and it was based on the Liverpool Class of Lifeboats and
was first a rowing boat then a motor
boat the originals also had sails(see a real Liverpool Class Lifeboat with sails up below).
